Eva Tavares is a short, queer, 1st gen Canadian, born of Portuguese and Scottish immigrants. She is also an award-winning filmmaker, hailing from BC. A graduate of the DGC Observer Initiative, the WIDC Career Advancement Module, the Hallmark Make Her Mark Program, the Banff/Citadel Training Program, UBC Opera, and the LAMDA Short Course, Tavares is a true multi-hyphenate. As a producer, writer, and director, her indie pieces have garnered global acclaim: Tribeca, Dances With Films and Cleveland International Film Festival selection She’s Nonbinary (Producer); Leo nominated/ UBCP ACTRA award winning short A Little Vacation (Director/Co-Writer); three Kristin Carter music videos in collaboration with Creative BC, Factor and the MVP Prism Prize (Director/Producer); and award-winning MAMM short Hijack (Producer/Co-Writer). Her directorial debut for Hallmark, The Christmas Baby, received a GLAAD nomination and her second Hallmark movie Texas Two Step premieres summer 2026. As an actor, you may know her from Rise of the Pink Ladies, The Irrational, and countless MOWs. Or from the stage as Christine in the Broadway tour of Phantom of the Opera. Her experience in these arenas of storytelling informs her unique approach to filmmaking.
